Sneaky Kids
So Diva has gone to her grandma's for the weekend and a cousin to Red and Dude is staying with us for the night. The cousin asks if she can go jump on the trampoline and was told yes. Red finished his chores and asked if there was anything else I wanted him to do. I told him "not at this time". So he walks off. (We have a rule in the house that no child goes outside without being told to or asking first) The next thing I hear is the front door closing. I look out the kitchen window and see Red making a dash for the backyard. Before I can go to the back door to intercept Red I hear the door again. I once again look out the kitchen window and this time I see Dude running like the devil is after him towards the back yard and the whole time he is looking behind him (no doubt looking to see if I've caught him yet). I open the back door just as both boys approach the trampoline. Oh yeah! Busted! They both gave me that "Deer in Headlights" look. So I tell them to both come back inside. Red apologizes and says he thought that his cousin had asked for him as well. So with a stern reminder of our rules he is allowed outside. Now Dude! Oh boy! We've had this fight before. I remind him of him getting in trouble the last time for sneaking out of the house without me knowing where he was going. His response; "But you didn't see me this time!". WHAT??!! How does he think he got busted in the first place? So then he tells me, "I'm going outside". I told him that no he wasn't because he doesn't TELL me what he is doing, he is to ASK if he can do something. He then gets mad and says "well Bubba went outside so I can too". Um, I'm thinking.....NOT! Of course with 4 year old theatrics he stays inside pitching a tantrum at the same time. So I sent him to bed. That turkey then had the nerve to look me right in the eye and tell me "You aren't allowed to be mean to me. Daddy will get you in trouble. I'm gonna tell daddy on you!" Holy wow! Really? Ok, tell daddy because then you get in trouble by daddy for sneaking out of the house, having a smart mouth and for throwing a tantrum. Lol. Gotta love the mind workings of a child!
